Sustainable Destination Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada
Urban and rural; nature and culture; playtime and downtime: Kelowna isn’t just one destination. It’s all of them, located in one place that offers a four-season lifestyle. Kelowna lies in the heart of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, on the shores of Okanagan Lake. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly holiday, a romantic getaway, or a weekend with friends, Kelowna is the right place.
Kelowna is extremely proud of their local flavours program, where visitors can experience the farm, vineyard or orchard and then taste their products which are artfully prepared by local chefs, winemakers, brewers or distillers. There is a multitude of farm-to-table restaurants who are cognizant of sustainable and renewable practices, often using exclusively local ingredients. Though the region is known for wine, it was founded on agriculture. There’s nothing quite like eating a fresh, local meal.

Winter Snowshoeing
Hiking is a year-round reality in Kelowna thanks to mild winter temperatures in the valley and iconic trails that take in lake views. At higher elevations, rent a pair of snowshoes to navigate paths that stay covered in snow from November to April, like the world famous Myra Canyon Trestles. There are quite a few places to put one foot in front of the other.
Lake Activities
Stunning Okanagan Lake is known for its beaches with over 30 throughout the region. Enjoy the lake from a stand-up paddleboard, wake boat, sailboat, pedal-boat, charter boat, flyboard, kayak, or canoe. Okanagan Lake's water temperature in July averages 19-23C° (69-71F°). The lake is welcoming and refreshing during the summer but it also has mysteries - creatures, hidden coves and tombs. Search for Ogopogo, hike Paul's Tomb trail at Knox Mountain or snorkel in the crystal clear water of the quiet, secluded bays.
