GGD is a comprehensive program that offers a complete service pack to its clients, amongst others initial on-site assessment, on site audit services from independent auditors providing third party inspections and community support programs.
Their standard for ensuring the environmental, socioeconomic, and cultural sustainability of hotels, tour operators and other lodging facilities in Central America and The Caribbean has been recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council as fully reflecting the GSTC Criteria.
The name of the Certification Program in Sustainable Tourism GREAT Green Deal, has its own meaning, where GREAT is an acronym for Green, Responsible, Exclusive, Amazing Tourism.
Hotel Museo Casa Santo Domingo is an accommodation certified by Great Green Deal. They constantly measure the consumption of electricity and have written plans and adopt concrete measures to the maximum use of natural lighting and heating. They use devices and equipment designed for efficient consumption of energy, minimizing the loss of heat or cold areas and equipment. To motivate participation and help from their community members their staff preforms daily cleaning tasks in the streets of St. Agnes! Every week a psychologist works with pre-school children from the community to help them understand and deal with learning disabilities and other development issues.
