Ecotourism Australia

Ecotourism Australia is the peak national body for the ecotourism industry. Ecotourism Australia (EA) is a non-profit organisation, focused on inspiring environmentally sustainable and culturally responsible tourism. Ecotourism Australia (EA) believes that education is important for increasing awareness about the plight of the planet’s environment and the role ecotourism can play in achieving sustainability.

Ecotourism Australia (EA) product development tool ‐ ECO certification is a world‐recognized program with a Memorandum of Cooperation with UNESCO World Heritage Centre, recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and winner of the ‘Tourism for Tomorrow’ Award issued by the World Travel & Tourism Council. Ecotourism Australia’s ECO Certification is awarded to tours, accommodation, and attractions offered by nature-based tourism operators in Australia.

The ECO Certification program assures travelers that certified products are backed by a strong, well-managed commitment to sustainable practices and provides high quality nature-based tourism experiences. The ECO Certification Program is divided into three levels: Nature Tourism, Ecotourism, and Advanced Ecotourism.


  • The certificate is valid for 3 years.
  • The Ecotourism Australia auditing process is done by independent environmental auditors and executed by  Conservation Volunteers Australia.

As a certification provider for over 1,500 tourism products, EA delivers and promotes ecologically sound practices at the forefront of the tourism industry.

For Example, The Coodlie Park Farm Retreat is one accommodation which is eco certified by Eco Tourism Australia. The farm is a 100% carbon neutral business, they plant around 1.2 hectares of native vegetation on the property each year! They also hold a native seed collection, which are collected from the property and seeded back into it when needed.

Aquila Eco Lodges

Aquila lodges are architect designed eco accommodation, with 4 comfortable bedrooms. Certified as a “Green Travel Leader” by Ecotourism Australia. Aquila Eco Lodges are nestled in 100 acres of virgin bushland, bordered by the Grampians National Park and the Grampians Golf Course. Crystal Creek Meadows

Crystal Creek Meadows Luxury Cottages are a 3-minute drive from Kangaroo Valley’s shops, restaurants and cafes. It is a 15-minute drive to Berry and Fitzroy Falls.


Ramada Resort by Wyndham Eco Beach Broome
