Ecotourism Australia

Ecotourism Australia is the peak national body for the ecotourism industry. Ecotourism Australia (EA) is a not for profit organisation focused on inspiring environmentally sustainable and culturally responsible tourism. Ecotourism Australia (EA) believes that education is important for increasing awareness about the plight of the planet’s environment and the role ecotourism can play in achieving sustainability.

eco certification

Ecotourism Australia’s ECO Certification certifies nature-based tourism experiences (tours, attractions, accommodation) that have minimal impact on the environment and are committed to sustainable practices based around the principles of ecotourism. There are 3 different levels of ECO certification: Nature Tourism, Ecotourism, and Advanced Ecotourism.

The ECO Certification program assures travellers that certified products are backed by a strong, well managed commitment to sustainable practices and provides high quality nature-based tourism experiences.

best practice

The Coodlie Park Farm Retreat is one accommodation which is eco certified by Eco Tourism Australia. The farm is a 100% carbon neutral business, they plant around 1.2 hectares of native vegetation on the property each year! They also hold a native seed collection, which are collected from the property and seeded back into it when needed. The farm is reliant on its own water supply, collecting all rain water from buildings, cabins and outhouses. Would you like to know more about Ecotourism Australia, please visit their website.
