3 eco-friendly destinations over the world!

Yes, it’s travel time (but when is it not?)! Traveling may be fun, but travelers often damage the environment consciously or unconsciously. And while cities are the first to suffer from environmental degradation, the damage will sooner or later reach the natural interiors of our planet as well. We have selected some new eco-friendly destinations especially for you, because we can’t get enough of it!

The Sadhana Forest, Pondicherry, India!

The Sadhana Forest community focuses on water conservation and reforestation of Auroville land which has been heavily eroded. The main aim of this ecological project is to support the local rural villages: By retaining water and filling the aquifer, Sadhana Forest India allows the villagers to cultivate their food and prevents exodus towards nearby city slums. It relies on volunteers who come to work there all through the year from across India. The community uses solar and wind energy, as well as recycled water. There are compostable toilets on site that ensure minimal waste of water.

Inkaterra, Tampopata National Reserve, Peru

The Inkaterra Guides Field Station at the national reserve used to be a research location, but leads conservation projects based on local flora and fauna and therefor welcomes volunteers from all over the world. It is possible to visit model farms and the volunteers work closely with the locals! Here you will have a truly unique experience!

Farm Kamp, Tamil Nadu, India

At the Farm Kamps in Tamil Nadu, India you’ll discover a new concept of camping on farms! The concept of camping on farms is a natural branch of activities in a farm to optimize the use of the farm resources towards farm tourism. The farms generally encourage organic methods of farming. The usage of chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides are discouraged to a large extend. Wherever possible they are trying to grow local vegetables and using the milk of the local varieties of cattle. At this eco-friendly stay, plants and trees are marked with their botanical name, and guests are given insights about them. You can feed farm animals, milk cows, gather eggs and do other activities which helps you understand how to run an actual farm.

How about that! A new way of discovering the nature of India in a responsible way. When staying at one of their farm kamps, make sure you participate in their thrilling activities!
