We work together with four international eco-labels focusing on the leisure and tourism industry: Green Key, Green Key Global, Green Globe and Green Tourism. On the BookDifferent site, a total of 3,580 hotels in 66 countries have been awarded one or more eco-labels.
Green Key is the world's largest eco-label for companies in the tourism and leisure industry and for conference and congress centers. Green Key has been recognized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Businesses with a Green Key are serious and have proven they are focused on sustainability and Corporate and Social Responsibility (CST) which are clearly verified through regular checks. Focal points are general care for the environment and the natural surroundings of the accommodation.
Environmental preservation
Green Key is a programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). This international organisation promotes sustainable development through environmental education.

Green Globe, just like Green Key, is a global travel and tourism industry certification programme for sustainable travel and tourism. Hotels with a Green Globe label save energy and water resources, contribute positively to local communities and their environment while meeting the high expectations of green leisure and business travelers.
The third eco-label you will find on BookDifferent is the British Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS). Accommodations with this certification are assessed by a qualified grading advisor against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and more.
The aim of these criteria is to offer guidelines to tourism businesses on how to make their operations more sustainable while still delivering a high quality service. When developing the criteria consideration has been given to a wide range of social and environmental factors, as well as up-to-date technological developments.
Green leaf
Finding sustainable hotels on BookDifferent is easy. The Eco-label is a search criteria which can be selected just like the hotel facilities, the number of stars or district. The icon of a green leaf indicates sustainable hotels.
